CityCamp Oakland 2026 Returns to City Hall

- When: Saturday, October 17, 9:00am-3:30pm (doors open 8:30am)
- Where: Oakland City Hall, Hearing Room 3, 1 Frank H Ogawa Plaza
- Cost: Free, lunch provided
CityCamp Oakland is back. It’s a participant-led unconference where anyone can propose, lead, or join sessions about the issues and opportunities shaping life in Oakland.
How an unconference works
The schedule starts empty. Attendees propose sessions on the day and decide together what gets discussed, on topics like:
- Public transit
- Housing
- Parks
- Education
- Open data
- Community safety
- Climate resilience
- Local arts
Sessions take whatever form suits them, whether that’s a discussion, a workshop, a demo, or a problem-solving lab.
The format is deliberately open, so the agenda reflects what people who live and work here actually care about. Residents, city staff, students, technologists, and community organizers are all welcome.
Volunteers Needed!
OpenOakland is hosting two events for this year’s Oakland Tech Week (Sept 27-Oct 3), as well as CityCamp Oakland (October 17). We are looking for volunteers to help with small group facilitation, registration, and event logistics. If you are interested in volunteering for these events, please sign up here.
